first impressions

An armor-clad monument of slate-gray skin and magpie-hair, the towering elezen bears the proud posture and confident stride of a trained fighter. Yein Que-Sae, known to some simply as "Sparrow," stands tall and broad.Wide shoulders sit atop a naturally strong build that is only further accentuated by musculature developed over years of labor. Old scars stretch across a wide nose and pronounced lips, mapping injuries severe enough to have damaged and discolored their left eye. Despite their intimidating size and appearance, Yein is typically very polite and friendly to others.Yein is no stranger to the ugliness of the star, and it's physically ravaged them. Even so, they are sworn to preserve and honor the sanctity of all life. To achieve this, they greet the world they have devoted themself to with an open heart. They give their love to others freely, in spite of all their fears and their pain. In combat, they will raise their shield before they draw their sword.

Wandering. Yein has never felt at home anywhere, due to the circumstances of their upbringing. Much of the tragic events that shaped their childhood can be attributed to racial tensions in the Twelveswood. They eventually settled in Ul'dah with a partner, and Yein remained there for a time following his abandonment, attempting to carve a life for themself. At present, they appear to have relocated to the Black Shroud.Sight. Yein has learned to embrace Death as a constant companion throughout their life. This extra sense that facilitates communing with the dead is a trait that runs in the Duskwight's lineage.Others gifted with similar sight might be able to see the spirits that sometimes linger around Yein. Familiar faces are rare, as they tend to prioritize regulars for gentle passage or forced exorcism.Return. Yein's aether is abundant but tainted. Their touch lacks warmth, despite how wild and full their aether appears at a glance. To those with special sight, the paladin's presence might feel mildly unsettling, like peering into a gaping void torn into a once vibrant tapestry.Voice. When they speak, their voice rolls forth in a low, comforting growl -- a gentle rumble reminiscent of smooth river rocks tumbling over each other. Mizu from BLUE EYE SAMURAI is a good approximation.
